I didn't know that my heart could ever hold so much compassion and love for the boys at the Bolivia Life Center. Whether it's playing with "Mis Hermanitos" or spreading the love of Christ to the children in the villages; it is always a blessing to be a part of it.
God allowed us to be ambassadors of His Kingdom in the way we demonstrated
His love for those boys in the everyday things. Were we willing to get
dirty with those precious boys? Would we fearlessly engage in a water
balloon fight and walk away completely spent, covered in dirt and
drenched with water? Would I attempt to stumble through a prayer in
Espanol, just to show that special child how much it meant to me to be
able to pray with and over him? All for the sake of showing these boys
how precious they are in our sight but more importantly the sight of
the One they have come to know as their Creator and Savior.
My parents and sister, Jessica had the opportunity to visit the BLC this Christmas with me. They have been sponsoring one of Alejandro's two brothers, Simon, since 2007 and I really wanted Simon to be able to meet the rest of his family from U.S. We had such a great Christmas experience together, living out the true meaning of Christmas by giving our time and love to the boys at the Bolivia Life Center.
When God speaks to you, you must obey him. Trust me when I tell you, you will here from God and you will have the time of your life and Jesus will speak to you. But you have to go with a open heart.
It was awesome to come the first day of the trip and be greeted by the boys. The boy my family and I sponsor was waiting for me and said "my God mother is here."
In every single essay, I wrote that I wasn't naive or idealistic, that I knew I couldn't change the world in two months, and that I simply planned on doing what I knew how to do: love children. I completely underestimated the power of love. And I was dead wrong on what I was capable of when God is the one doing the loving...
A little boy by the name of Jhonny T. grabbed my heart. As I sat talking with one of the guys there he started telling me Jhonny's story. I could hardly hold my tears at bay as his story of abuse and desperation unfolded before me...
I was flipping through channels one night and came across Life Today with James Robinson. There was a short segment about the life of the orphans living on the streets of Bolivia sniffing glue to stay warm...
In all of my walk of faith, I had kept God in a box. Searching for what He can do here, now, around me, in my life. I created boundaries in my mind on how I thought the Lord could do things. On our trip, the Lord taught me that when He calls out missionaries, He calls them not just to serve Him, and use them, but also to...
When I sat on the ground with a crying Jesus in my arms, there was no other place in the world that I would rather have been. To know that this terrified little boy could finally feel safe in my arms was the best feeling...
Before our bus had come to a complete stop they ran to the doors; however, only one ran to the front passenger seat door, where I sat. He stood there, with a smile that would melt the coldest of hearts - yes, Ernesto...
