The Bolivia Life Center is Children's Impact Network's orphanage in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Since opening in October 2003, the BLC has become home to nearly 80 boys. Before arriving at the BLC all of our boys had been abandoned and left to survive on the harsh streets of Cochabamba. They are now cherished and protected. They each receive everything they need: food, clothing, a bed, education, and most importantly, the love of Jesus Christ!
On a typical day, the children get up at 7 am and get themselves ready for the day. They eat a warm breakfast and then board the bus to go to school. In Bolivia, children attend school for half the day. When our boys are not in public school, they receive supplemental, private tutoring for three hours, allowing them to excel in the classroom. Many of the children arrive severely behind in their academics because many have had little or no schooling their entire life. Shortly after, many of the children rise to the top of their class. Along with this supplemental learning they are also educated in areas such as: art, ceramics, music, and computer skills. They have some time to play in the afternoons, and then the entire orphanage has dinner together as family. After dinner, they boys relax and spend time together. Before going to bed, they each have a hot shower. The boys are separated into four different dormitories based on age. Each dormitory has a tia or tio (english translation is aunt or uncle) who spends the night with them. These dedicated, caring adults ensure the boys are on their best behavior, help them get tucked into their beds and are there if any of the boys have nightmares or want to say a goodnight prayer. On Saturdays, the children enjoy playing and working together. The boys always look forward to their trips into the city for church on Sundays.
